BOARD MEETING NOTICE--RESCHEDULE: Due to a lack of quorum because of Board member commitments to State Fair, the Board meeting will be rescheduled to a future date for the month of September. Agenda and notice will be sent in accordance with the Open Meetings Act. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

VB GAME POSTPONEMENT: Saturday's Game at Cimarron on Sep 7 is being postponed due to a conflict with State Fair and not having enough players to field a competitive team due to other circumstances. A date has not been set yet for make up but will be communicated if an alternative date can be set. Thank you for your understanding of this situation.

REMINDER: Any person who is interested in applying for the open Board Member seat needs to have application materials in place by Friday, August 30, 2024 at 4PM. Details can be found under the DOCUMENTS tab on the website and going to JOB POSTINS 24-25 Folder.

OPEN HOUSE-Thursday, August 29 for Corona Elementary-Corona Public Schools is holding an informal Open House from 4:00 -5:00 PM on Thursday for any parent/guardian who want to meet with the teachers or their elementary students. We strongly encourage new students to have a parent/guardian attend so you can meet the teacher as well as hear the good things that are going on with our schools. Also, Mr. Clough and Mrs. Dunlap will be sharing some exciting news with parents/guardians on some future endeavors for the schools and how you can be a part of it. Events will kick off at 4:00 PM in the POD classroom. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Thursday.

A reminder to parents/guardians that Wednesday, August 28 is an early release day. Students will be released at 1PM for staff in-service to be provided. starting at 1:15 or as soon as all buses and students have been picked up. Thanks and have a great week!

JHVB Schedule Update: The JHVB team has added 3 contests to their schedule for this year and new schedules for Varsity and Middle School have been uploaded to the DOCUMENTS section of the website. The MS will be playing at Vaughn on 9/9 at 4PM and Vaughn will be playing at Corona on 9/16 at 4PM. Also, the MS will be competing in the Magdalena Tournament on 9/28 with game times to be announced. Let's Go Cardinals!

VB SCHEDULE UPDATE: The VB game scheduled with Monte del Sol on 8/27 has a game time change to 4:30PM. Also, the location will be at Christian Life Church at 121 Siringo Rd, Santa Fe, NM 87505. Go Lady Cardinals!

BOARD MEMBER VACANCY: Corona Public Schools is seeking to fill a vacancy Board position based upon the resignation of a Board member. Person must be must be a qualified elector of New Mexico, a resident of the district they represent, and the position will be filled in accordance with New Mexico state statutes. Any interested individual should submit a resume and cover letter outlining their experiences and why they are qualified and desire to serve on the Board of Education. Game times for the Tucumcari Volleyball Tournament have been announced. Your Lady Cardinals will play Grady at 10:40, Tucumcari at 11:20 and Floyd at 1:20 in pool play. Bracket play will start at 3:00PM with opponents and times to be determined. Saturday game times are based on what happens in Friday bracket play and will be posted as soon as we know. Anyone interested in becoming a substitute for the district as a teacher, secretary or custodian, a Substitute Workshop will be held at Corona High School in the Board Room on Monday, August 19 at 9:30AM. Persons interested will go through training and complete the necessary paperwork in becoming a substitute. Because of availability of officials, the Varsity Girls Volleyball game at Des Moines will be played at 2PM at Des Moines High School.

PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE-WORK SESSION/REGULAR MEETING: The Corona Public Schools Board of Education will be meeting on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, in the Board Room in Corona High School at 5:30PM with a Work Session immediately followed by the Regular Meeting. Agendas will be posted in the community at the Corona Public Library and Post Office. Also, Board Agendas may be viewed online at www.cpscardinals.org in the Board Agendas folder under the Documents tab of the website.

As of today, with the increased enrollments, the District will not be able to provide transportation to any student that is inside the 2 mile radius. The district is still in process of adding another bus driver so this decisions will be re-evaluated in the future so we can ensure that all our students arrive safely to school. Bus routes will run as scheduled for the first week of school and if the bus ridership changes based on the new enrollment of students or parents opting to transport, we will notify parents of any change in transportation status. MANDATORY ATHLETIC PARENT MEETING: Any student wanting to participate in Athletics in grades 6-12 inr the Fall/Winter for Corona Schools. NMAA requires the athlete and parent to attend a required parent meeting to go over any changes to NMAA policies an regulations. This meeting will be held on Monday, August 12 at 5:00PM in the Auditorium. Meeting should be approximately 45 minutes so please plan on attending. The Office of Corona Public Schools will have limited access for the next two days, July 31 and August 1, due to professional development and training of staff and staff vacation time. BUS ROUTES: Routes are being finalized and at this time for parents who have students inside the 2 mile limit on State Route 247, including the trailer, we cannot assure that we will be able to transport. State law requires us to bus all students outside the 2 mile radius and if space is available, we can transport inside that radius. If space is available after registration of students is complete, the school will reach out to notify families if this option is available. That will not occur before August 7. Thank you for your understanding in this matter as we work to provide the best opportunities for our students.
