REMINDER : This Friday, February 7, 2025, is a Virtual Learning Day/Professional Development Day for Staff. Staff will be on campus from 8AM to 12PM for office hours and PD activities for the day. Assignments will be online for the MS/HS and packets will go home on Thursday for ELEM students. Assignments will be due at 8AM on Monday morning. Have a great rest of your week.
ATHLETIC SCHEDULE CHANGES FOR WEEK OF FEBRUARY 3:
Tuesday's February 4 MS Boys game at HOME v. Alamo Navajo has been cancelled and the first game for Varsity Girls will tip off at 4PM followed by the Boys Varsity at approximately 5:30PM.
Saturday's February 8 MS Boys game at HOME v. Coronado is canceled and the Varsity Girls game will tip off at 1PM followed by the Varsity Boys at approximately 2:30PM.
Because of extreme cold temperatures and extreme wind chills, Corona Public Schools will go on a 2 hour delay, January 21, 2025.
REMINDER: January 22, 2025 is an early release day for our students for Staff Professional Development. Dismissal will occur at 1PM on that day. Thank you!
ATHLETIC UPDATE: The Carrizozo Games scheduled for Tuesday, January 21 have been moved to Wednesday, January 22 at Carrizozo because of a conflict with a Board Meeting in Zozo. Games will start at 4:00PM with JH Boys followed by Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys.
CYBER ATTACK UPDATE: The District has received some information on the data breach with PowerSchool. As of today, the District has filed a claim through our cyber insurance provider and has been approved for the claim. I am awaiting more information of how to process claims if you are affected. I hope to have that info by the end of the week, but as you can imagine, they are processing numerous claims at this time. I will get the information out as soon as it is finalized and available.
The information we currently have is that directory information was comprised on December 20, 2024 and affected student and staff records such as addresses and telephone numbers. PowerSchool has not confirmed if social security numbers or any other information was compromised as this is a PowerSchool issue on their side. The claim has been filed to protect our families so once that information is released, I will share.
The District will continue to monitor the situation as it progresses and provide information as it becomes available from our claim.

Corona Public Schools and all districts in NM were notified over the weekend of a possible datal leak associated with one of our vendors, PowerSchool, of potential student and staff information. Our tech people are communicating with the various entities involved in this leak and are awaiting whether Corona information was one of the districts that may have been compromised. This was a nationwide cyberattack and more information is coming forth today or in the next few days on the impact and extent of the issue.
As the district gets more information, I will share it and make you more aware of the situation and the response of the state and vendor to this issue.

PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE-W0RK SESSION/REGULAR BOARD MEETING: The Corona Public Schools Board of Education will be meeting on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 in the Board Room in Corona High School at 5:30PM. Athletic Announcement: The Jal Tournament games for Friday and Saturday have been cancelled for the Boys and Girls as a result of the poor road conditions in the area and across the state.

Today's tournament game in Jal has been cancelled due to the weather and road conditions. The current plan is to travel for Friday/Saturday games. A decision will be made tonight by 9PM based on the travel conditions.

As a reminder, this Friday is a virtual day of instruction. With today's snow day, they may be posted early so encourage your son or daughter to get a head start. For HS/MS students, the assignments are posted online and will be due at 8AM on Monday, January 13. Elementary students will turn their packets in when they return to school on Monday.

Corona Public Schools are closed today, January 9, due to the hazardous road conditions and inclement weather. January 10 is a virtual day as a reminder.
ATHLETIC ANNOUNCMENT: Tonight's games at Des Moines have been rescheduled to 1/28 out of an abundance of caution for the predicted inclement weather and the safety of our athletes, coaches and spectators. MS Boys will start at 4PM followed by the Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys.
